The Many Women of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs
I've been thinking about this since "The Ex-File" aired two weeks ago.

It's a well-known matter of NCIS canon that Gibbs has three ex-wives. And it has been hinted (or flat-out stated) that most or all of those marriages ended on a rather ...volitile note. (Ex-wife #3 drunk-dials him every year on their anniversary, she and/or Ex-wife #2 also reportedly whacked him with a golf club and/or baseball bat. - I forget if the incidents were acredited to the same wife or not. - All of the following is based purely off memory and a tiny bit of poking around online.)

Last season everyone learned that he had yet another marriage, which ended when his wife and young daughter were murdered.

The current director of NCIS, Jenny Shepard, is at least one woman he was involved with, but didn't marry. And he recently became involved with at least one woman who is NOT a redhead, Army Lt. Col. Hollis Mann.

So, what exactly do we know about the Many Women of Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs?

Marriage #1 - Shannon

We don't know much beyond what we've seen in flashbacks. Gibbs was still an active-duty Marine back then. They had a daughter named Kelly. From all appearances, a happy, loving family.

Ex-Wife #1 (Marriage #2) - ?
I don't think we know anything about her, not even her name. I'm going to play the odds that she was probably a pull-no-punches redhead ...with good bone structure.

Ex-Wife #2 (Marriage #3) - Diane
Subsequently also married and divorced Gibbs' FBI counterpart/sometime antagonist Tobias Fornell. They have a young daughter. Has appeared on the show, but I couldn't find the actress's name listed. However, she looked incredibly similar to Ex #3, only with somewhat darker hair.

In between marriages, Gibbs got involved with...Jenny

They were partners. It was Paris. (Did Rule 12 originate after - or because? - of this? We don't know) What we do know? She's now his boss. She's had a couple really bad haircuts.

Ex-Wife #3 (Marriage #4) - Stephanie

Apparently goes by her maiden name now. Definitely hit Gibbs with a sports implement of some kind (I remember both bats and clubs being referenced and Ex #3 responsible for at least one of them.)

Which brings us (as far as we know, that is) to the current love interest, and only blonde in the bunch.

Even disregarding hair color, I think it's safe to say that Gibbs has a definite "type," don't you?

And that applies to personalities, too. He seems to go for the take-charge, take-no-prisoners type of woman. Which could explain why the relationships tend to end so spectacularly.

Of course, that makes me wonder about Shannon. Was she the same way? Or has Gibbs sought out women who, apart from a passing physical resemblance, are nothing like her, and, in fact, more like himself? (Which would also explain it.)

Regardless, I think we've proved at least one point... Leroy Jethro Gibbs has rather good taste. Those women are all lookers!

(But then again, he's nothing to sneeze at himself.)
